Second Sunday of Advent Reflection

Today we will have a shorter reflection. I want you to think about two things: hope and knowing your place.

We need to remember one thing in our lives: we are NOT God. God is all knowing, all loving, and all powerful. We are not that. We are a mere creation in the glory of God. We need to know our place. John the Baptist knew his place. He knew he wasn’t God, he knew he wasn’t Christ. He knew he was the mere messenger God has sent to prepare people for the ministry of His son. So we need to take after John the Baptist in our lives. We need to never let our own ego and pride take precedence over the power and love of God.

This relates to our hope. We need to have hope and trust in God at all times. This hope and trust is justified in God being all loving, all knowing, and all powerful. By knowing our place in the world, and by knowing that we are not God but rather His creation, we can have hope and trust in this design and plan.

Rather than me continuing to ramble on about this, I think this video by Fr. Mike Schmitz explains it very well, that is what it means to have hope and why we should have it.
